Caulliechat Rebel competes well at the Skinners World Cup
I am pleased that Rebel was able to do so well
at the world's most prestigious Gundog event, he showed his vast
experience and scored 181 out of 200 over 20 retrieves during
the two competing days .
Rebel came second in the individual scores, the team also came second which was an excellent achievement Even though rebel scored just over 90% I
still feel a little disappointed as I would have liked to have
won.
The next thing
for Rebel is to try and get into the CLA International Team I
will keep you all up to date with what happens.
May I thank you all for the kind messages on his success

| 6th May 2011 I would like to share my good news about Rebel with you. Caulliechat Rebel is back competition after a year off, having broken his leg badly last year, he is back to about 90% of his best. I am very pleased that I allowed him the time he needed to recover. Rebel has completed three major gundog tests so far and has scored over 90% of the score in two of them, one was the selection test for the Great Britain Gundog Team. He would have done better had I not made a mistake on the day, as it was he came 5th,but I did enjoy the testI Andy Fisher came first with his Golden Retriever, he is one of the nicest trained dogs I have seen for a long time, his dog was just lovely to watch, probably one of the best test dogs in the country at the moment. The second test which was held at Windsor Great Park with John Stubbs. There were 125 top Retrievers competing and it is run as a Team event with 5 dogs in each Team, there was also a Top Individual Retriever Trophy for the highest place dog on the day. In 2009 I was lucky enough to win this, only the second person in Wales to have done so in over ten years. I was pleased to score over 90% of the maximum and there was only fifteen points between the top dogs so I was so pleased to be among them. Unfortunately I made a stupid mistake on a marked retrieve scoring only 16 from 20 but pulled myself together and with no more bad mistakes I averaged 18 out of 20 for the whole test. I can remember Alan Rees the Welsh Team Captain for the CLA Team telling a group of us "If you can not consistently achieve 85% of a test score consistently, you would not be considered for any International Team " I have been fortunate with both Greenbriar Viva of FFYNONGAIN and Caulliechat Rebel of Garngoch to have done this in every test both Internationally and at Club level. Now that rebel has done well in training and showed in the tests I hope he will again be back scoring good points in the Home Internationals, but as usual I will have to wait and see, however I will keep you all updated via this site. |
